Kate and I put a lot of hard work into our science fair entries. All of our hard work and perseverance paid off. Our science fair projects were selected to go though to the finals. Harry was second equal with Kate. Jamie came third. Harry and Jamie's entries did not get through to the inter-school finals. The finals will be held in Stoke on Monday the 19 September. On fabulous Friday we hosted an amazing assembly. It was lots of fantastic fun which included some outrageous dancers, but we are not finished yet!!! We enjoyed the keys for learning signs which we presented with swishy music. With total expression we started to read our Ice cream stories and they were extremely yummy! Next there was the good Principal Awards. Mani was the winner in our SUPER class, but everyone else

is a winner even SUPER MRS EVANS!!!!!!!!!! Leah just announced to sing Kiwi Kids. Room 2 and the rest of the school sang in beautiful voices. Suddenly it was over. Good bye!

Today it decided to pour on us. It bucketed down like anything. I looked behind me at the window. There were little streams of water running down it. Every time someone opened the door a terrific sound of rain would fill your ears. Yesterday in class Fin and I got told that we were in the Enviro Club. Electricity flooded my veins, excitement whizzing in my head. A smile spread over my face. Today had been electronic.

Last night I went to Riverside Pool for swimming lessons.

Inch by inch I walked down the icy cold water Brrrrrrrrrrrr. My coach gave me a huge smile. A lovely sort of glow came over me.

On Wednesday we three members of magnificent Room 2 noticed an environmental responsibility need in the classroom. We decided to have a go at sorting, labelling, fixing, ordering and cleaning up the maths equipment. We felt extremely awesome when we achieved it. We announced to the class that everyone should respect it now because it is tidy. In return we all got 2000 bonus points each! Yippy we got into it. We found it was great fun getting a job well done!!!!!!!!!

At the end of last term, Room 2 had a fabulous concert. Elizabeth was a great as a warm and friendly narrator. She explained things in a delightful way. Lilly was wonderful at piano playing. Her fingers were like little fairies as she danced them along the keys. Leah, Poppie and Lydia also shared talents with us all. The party was yummy. We had lots of cool food. Yesterday awesome Room 2 enjoyed fundamental sports. It was special because the seniors were the teachers who helped us. They showed us how to bat, field and hold the ball. We felt well looked after when it was our turn to bat because they made sure we held the bat correctly and looked at the ball so we would not miss it.

On fabulous Friday we began selling food and seeds from our school garden. We raised about 30 dollars. We had a lot of friendly cheerful customers who sometimes were a bit noisy. They managed to "clean" us out of supplies. There was nothing left but a few seeds. It was lots of fun. Our thanks to Petra for helping us grow the products and build the stall.

On wonderful lovely lucky Wednesday we did a lot of sowing seeds in small planting pots. We all got a turn at sowing and getting soil out of the really, really, stinky worm bin. Luca said he nearly "threw up" because of the smell of the worm bin. It was a lot of fun. We enjoyed ourselves. At the end of the day we got squashy, swishy, mushy blue water balls. They were very easy to break.

Room 2 experienced what it is like to fall off a boat incase it happens. We put clothes on top of our togs and slipped into the pool. Brrrr it was freezing. I didn't want to fall off a boat ever. Once we were in we took our wet clothes off. Our clothes felt cold and heavy. It felt like we had been in an enormous storm.

Each fortnight Petra comes to assist us maintain our school garden. Last Wednesday we picked, chopped and prepared lots of lovely produce from our garden and produced an enormous lunch for us all. On Friday the 3rd of December 2010 we had a coin trail to raise money for the miners families. We raised a fantastic $500.40!!! After our enormous effort, we then hopped into the car during lunch time and drove off to the Westpac Bank to deposit our money into the miners account.

On the 14 of September Room 2 went tree planting.We all picked buddies and walked to Corder Park. When we got to corder Park we met some people called Richard, Sarah and Claire. They told us how to plant the tree's. YIPPY we were off in a split second. After it was all over we were so muddy that you wouldn't want to be our parents. Anyway Room Two had a fantastic wonderful day.

On the twenty fourth of August the Senior Syndicate went to winter sports. The teachers were in a rush. It was a really hot and a perfect day for sport. The senior syndicate had to have lunch early and then leave for the bus. When the buses got there everyone split up into groups. It was exhausting, everybody needed a drink. The sports were soccer, netball, table tennis, rugby, mini-ball and hockey. On one bus was netball and soccer and on the other bus was table tennis, mini-ball and hockey. When the buses got back to school, everybody went back to their classes. It was a great day and everyone had fun.

Last week the sports leadership group taught Room 2 some different sports. The games they taught us were, Square tag, Builders and Bulldozers. This is how you play Builders and Bulldozers. You have to have about 10 people. Split them into even groups then you get some cones and spread them out up and down. You want to turn them over, however you can't turn 2 over at the same time. There was a variety of games that we could play. This is how you play Square tag. We have about 10 people. It is just tag but the squares are home.

It was fantastic having the opportunity watching Gina a past student from C.T.S. as an adult performer. One of our last classroom swimming activities was to experience what it is like to try surviving in water with our clothes on. The water made our clothes feel very heavy. It was a team effort when we went into a survival huddle. Everybody enjoyed this experience.

On Tuesday 13th of October, Mrs Evans had her very special birthday. Lilyanne Perez and Mr Wymees planned a surprise birthday party for Mrs Evans. She was very surprised. Thank you to those parents who came and helped celebrate. People were stuffing themselves with the lovely food. After we had our feast, we had a class photo. The boys from the Kapa Haka group performed a haka. Mrs Evans was "blown away" by the amazing standard her children had done to make her happy on her special birthday.

Group 3 and Group 4 made board games. Our first task was to read a book of poems. We then selected one poem to create a board game from. Our learning intention was to extend ideas beyond the text and develop creativity and graphic skills. We had a think, made a plan which included what we needed, special features and the rules. The next job was to design our board game. After that we made our game. After passing the Mrs Evans perfection test Rosie kindly laminated them. The last task was to play our games. It was cool fun. MAPUA AQUARIUM

On Wednesday Guy Fawkes day Room 2 and 10 went to Mapua Aquarium. Room 2 went into the Discovery Room. Richard told as about fish. Next we went into the aquarium to have a look at the beautiful fish. We went to have a picnic lunch by the sea. After lunch we went for a walk and a play. After walking back to the bus we waited for room 10 to come back then went back to school. It was fun riding in the big bus and thanks to all of the parents and caregivers who looked after us. It was fun.

We set out last Tuesday morning to walk our way along the cycle way with Constable O'Donovan. Our task was to look out for hazards and hidden dangers. It was an adventure we all enjoyed. Fun seeing people actually using the cycle way on their bikes and walk along it ourselves. It was like being in or on our model. Everybody in our imagine was shrunk. Room 2 has been working on this model of the cycle way. We have been working really hard. The first thing we did was a plan in our topic books of how the cycle way would look in our environment. The best plan was chosen. The next job was to draw the map onto a table plan. It was the job for Celine, Izzy and Kayla to do. They painted in the road, pathway and grass areas. Everyone made a person or a bike out of colourful wire. Buildings were constructed out of boxes, paper or lego. We included a model of our school, the Fish and Chip shop and Four Square shop. We built fences around the buildings. A farm was included behind Joey's house. Extras include, Fifeshire Rock with its tree on top, a Vote for Us sign, a model of the Principal standing outside his school, models of plants along the pond that we planted during winter etc. It was a team effort and every bodies ideas were valued and added as we went along. Every member of our class, including our teacher had heaps of fun. HAVE A GOOD LOOK and see if you can spot the things in our model we have mentioned above. Enjoy.

When Clifton Terrace School was making masks for the mask parade we lots of fun. We made crickets and two types of butterflies. It was fun marching down the main street on Friday night, looking very smart in our lovely school red tops. We sang our hearts out and had heaps of fun.

We enjoyed using the Inquiry Learning approach to find out about the planets. As well as using the computers, we search for information using books, interviewed people and best of all visited the Atkinson Cawthron Observatory. We had to make the observatory during the evening in the dark so we could see clearly.

On the 27 september 2008 Clifton Terrace School went to town to celebrate a very special birthday party - Nelson city 150th birthday. Fifteen students were chosen from our school to come to the party and blow out a candle each. They also received a yummy piece of chocolate cake. Three very lucky students from Room 2, Emma, Celine and Caitlin were able to attend. They also enjoyed holding our special school flag as they marched along the city streets.

Room 2 have been receiving lovely letters from shops and places they have been writing too.

We have written to places like Subway, Mc Donalds , Tesco , Mr Whippy , Toyworld , Pomeroys , Bid Vest , Tip Top Icecream , Triple One Care and Tui Glen Rest Home.

Everybody has answered our questions and given us their website / e-mail addresses. So far we have received sixteen replies ( just over 50% ) out of thirty letters posted.

Room 2 are doing postcards to imaginary places in our solar system. We are having lots of fun creating our postcards. We hope you can come and see them sometime. Next time we hope to show you our creation.

We all wrote letters to businesses in Nelson. Some people wrote to McDonalds and Burger King. We wrote about ourselves, interests and asked four questions. One of the questions asked was for their email and/or website address with a PLEASE :-). This is so we can have a look to find out more information about the business on Tuesday afternoon when we have computer studies. After writing our letters and passed the Mrs Evans test of perfection, we then had a lesson on how to address our envelopes. Next we set out down the beautiful seaside path to the letter box. It was fun posting our 29 letters. Now we are looking forward to receiving our replies. We wonder who will receive the first reply back.

Tree Planting

One Tuesday afternoon on the 26 of August, Room 2 went tree planting. We found tons of worms and got our hands really dirty. First we dug holes for the plants. After making sure it was the correct depth, we put the plants into the hole. Next we put earth around the plant making sure that the worms were in there too. Last of all we stomped around the plant making sure that we did not damage the plant.

Bomboniere's or Sweet Memories

Bomboniere almonds taste like butter. The almond is cover with sugar. A bomboniere is given at weddings to wish the couple health, wealth, happiness, longivity and fertility. The bomboniere can be traced back to the early days of European history. They are also given at christenings. We had fun designing and making these delights. We gave them out at the end of our Greek meal celebration to take home as a "keep sake".
